2008 is still here
Dec. 4th, 2008 07:12 pmIn exactly four weeks from today, it will be the start of a new year. It is around this time that people think about and sometimes discuss their resolutions for the new year. The beginning of the year is seen as a time for change, a time for new beginnings. However... what about the rest of this year? There are a full twenty-seven days remaining in this year; how will you spend them?
So much has happened in the past year, some events impacting everyone who is reading this in some way, and the year is not over. Hopefully, the following weeks will bring good news to those who are waiting for it. As storefronts, various places of business, television channels, and radio stations make abundantly clear, the holiday season is upon us. It is supposed to be a time of joy, and while I realize that this year it may not be a joyous one for everyone, I hope that people will remember that they are here and that others are here for them.
This year is still here. Why wait until January to make a positive change? Why not make a difference now, either in your life or someone else's? Others are here for you; perhaps you can be there for someone who needs you. There are plenty of volunteering opportunities available to anyone who is interested, and even just talking to someone can make a positive impact. It is the season of giving, and often the best gift anyone can receive is just knowing that someone is there for them.
Happy holidays.

I was thinking of doing some volunteering! We did a lot of stuff like that with HeliX at ESU, but I'm back at the mansion now, so I was thinking of looking for something a little closer to home. Is there anything you're recommend?

What are you interested in, Amara? Not everyone enjoys the same time of volunteer work, of course.

I'm not sure, actually! We mostly had like information booths and stuff like that ESU, but I think I'd like to do something a bit more... practical?
