Spring Celebration Weekend
Mar. 18th, 2010 08:44 pmIn honor of the upcoming spring season, which begins this weekend, I will be spending the majority of the next three days outside. This includes sleeping outside in a tent that will be set up by the lake. Tomorrow's classes will be held near the boathouse so that my students and I can enjoy the nice weather in tomorrow's forecast, and if anyone is interested, please come by to hear the speeches that have been prepared by the students in Speech class. Light refreshments will be served.

You are the only person I know who when announcing a camping trip and your Speech class students' presentations, also tells us that 'light refreshments will be served'.

Doug says that my previous comment could be taken as sarcasm and so I am going to say that I am not being sarcastic. I think that your inclusion of light refreshments is a good thing and it made me happy that you say these things.

Of course light refreshments will be served; people are more likely to attend events at which food is served, yes? If you have the time, you should attend.

At night, perhaps, but not during the day. Besides, cold temperatures do not bother me. I am happy to spend time outdoors in many temperatures and weather conditions in which most people would much prefer to be indoors.

The weather was nice during the day on Friday, though, and that was the only time that I required any students to be outside, yes? I held classes near the boathouse on purpose in case of rain, so that we would be able to get into a shelter quickly without needing to sit under a solid air "roof." As I am capable of heating the air around me, had the temperature been lower than expected I would simply have altered the temperature in the area in which class was being held so that my students would be comfortable. I think about these things and do not wish for any of my students to be sad.
